She was a four-legged fireball disguised as a Lab. After Annie’s antics became too much for her family, Search Dog Foundation handler Jeff Ivy tested her as search dog material. From Victim to Valiant
Abandoned by his owner, this scrappy survivor was tied to a railroad track, sprayed with mace, and left for dead. Luckily, Ace was found and sent to a shelter, where the Search Dog Foundation rescued him. Displaying endurance and tenacity that gave him his will to live, Ace is the perfect partner for firefighter Rob Cima. Having achieved Advanced Certification with FEMA, Ace is proof that love and patience can transform an abandoned pet into a hero.

From Acrobat to
Fearless Rescuer
Named for his facial markings, Jester faced euthanasia when Penny Woodruff of High Sierra Animal Rescue saw his potential. Penny notes Jester “had such a great attitude, we all just fell in love with him.” His ability to “fly over a seven foot fence” troubled his previous family, but the Search Dog Foundation saw a hero’s heart in the Border Collie mix. Teamed with firefighter Davis Doty, Jester has the focus needed to serve the nation in times of crisis.
